I’ve spent years (not exaggerating) – and over those years, a lot of money – searching for the perfect jeans. What makes for perfect denim? In my book: it’s got to be comfortable, look great, not sag and stretch over the day, and not pinch in the waist or require constant hiking up. Specific to my body shape, they need to be on the higher-waisted side, and need to come in long inseams. Not so easy to find! Until now, that is:
There are a lot of reasons why I feel compelled to sing the praises of Madewell’s Skinny Skinny jeans to everyone, but it’s mainly the fact that they miraculously hit all of the points that I’ve been looking for in a pair of jeans, and more. Main selling point: they’re comfortable enough to throw on anytime, and yet they look great. You can wear them all day, and by the end of the day, the butt hasn’t sagged and the knees haven’t sagged…that’s pretty major. They have the perfect amount of stretch that keeps them comfortable and form-fitting, but without making them look like legging jeans. Also, most of the styles come not only in tall inseams, but TALLER inseams! Tall and taller. I can’t even tell you how glad that makes me. Madewell’s denim also come in a variety of washes that I really like (no weird whiskering!).
Last week while organizing my clothes for fall I went through my jeans and got rid of ones that have just been sitting there, not being worn, all for various reasons (weird fit, way too low rise, pinches the waist, weird whiskering), and then ordered a few Madewell pairs to replace them. I already owned a few washes of the Skinny Skinny jeans from last year (one of which you can see here and here), and this season I sprang for the boulder wash, the distressed pair, and the waterfall wash (and, um…maybe a few others :). Madewell has free shipping and returns on denim, so there’s really nothing to lose by trying. They’re also running a program where if you bring your old denim in, they’ll take it for charity and then give you $20 off a new pair.
My favorite jeans are the Madewell skinny's. I of course have to wear them in the cropped version so they actually don't need to be hemmed, BUT I found out that AYR's denim designers are from Madewell and they come in a variety of inseam lengths, from 26" to 34"
