Bedroom Upgrades

Today I want to share with you all some upgrades that I’ve made to my “bedroom” – and I use the term very loosely, seeing as I live in a studio!

Remember when I wrote this post, all about my love for Eileen Fisher’s linen bedding at Garnet Hill? Well, I got super lucky because they kindly sent me a set of the sheets to try out, and let me tell you: I am in LOVE with these! I’ve never slept on linen bedding before and it just feels so good and fresh – especially great for summer, but I’m definitely using these all year round.

Besides how comfortable they feel, I also love how these sheets look. Just as I expected, they just have that laid-back, unfussy look – like if they’re wrinkled, it doesn’t matter. I love the raw edges and very, very light pink color – they’re feminine without being girly.

Next upgrade: my new Robert Abbey swing arm lamp from Lamps Plus. I was forced to buy a new one after my original broke, but wow was it hard to find a good one for a decent price. I tried one that I wasn’t too crazy about, but was on sale and I just figured, eh, who cares – and omg. It was BAD. So I finally bit the bullet for real and bought this more expensive one, and lesson learned: sometimes it’s not worth it to waste your money on cheapies. Just go for quality the first time. ANYWAY, what makes this one so great: the gorgeous muted gold tone, the classic linen shade (the cheap one had the tackiest, cheap crap shade), the cord cover (very important detail), and the round wall plate. Also, it has two different levels of light, one brighter and one more dim, which is another great detail.

Next upgrade: my new blanket from Serena and Lily! I’ve always had a simple white cotton blanket on my bed underneath my duvet (an inexpensive one from TJ Maxx typically), and a few months back I realized the blanket had yellowed around the edges (ew). Of course, my Mom managed to get it back to white, but by then it was too light – I’d taken the plunge on this Serena and Lily herringbone blanket that I’d been eying for quite some time. I love it! It’s a perfect weight (not too heavy, not too light), and the quality seems great. I’ve been loving it all summer – not totally looking forward to pulling back out the heavy duvet.
