Around Here Lately

Today, a few things I’ve been loving lately and meaning to share:

First up, the adorable illustration above, which was a birthday present to me from my sister Ali – a custom piece she commissioned from artist Melissa Luster. After seeing her profiled on my blog, Ali asked Melissa to create this fun rendering of the two of us having a fun day together downtown…and she had her include all of these fun details of things I’m obsessed with/make my sister go to all the time. You can see Dominique Ansel Bakery in the background and the yellow DA bags in our hands (containing DKAs, no doubt :), the Stick With Me Sweets bag in my sister’s hand, (as I have coerced her to go there with me more times than anyone could count)…also the Strand bag in my hand since my ideal weekends basically consist of buying books + chocolate. My sister made sure Melissa included all of these perfect little details (she even sent her photos of the shopping bags!), right down to the camera on my arm and my trusty over-the-knee boots. This was just the sweetest and most thoughtful gift, and reminds me of all the fun weekends my sister and I have had together here.

Recently, Minted generously sent over a set of their Shine Bright Foil-Pressed personalized stationery, and I love it. I always have thank you cards on hand, but it’s really nice to have more of an all-purpose note card set that can be used for any occasion. The gold foil provides such a gorgeous sheen, and I just love the brushstroke detail, which adds a little unique touch.

I got my Caitlin McGauley prints! I can’t even really describe how much I love them. They’re even more gorgeous and wonderful in person – there’s just something about her New York City watercolors…they’re perfect. Now I just need to get them off the floor and onto a wall.

I’ve told you guys before about what a fan I am of Juice Beauty – when I wanted to switch to a talc-free face powder I discovered their Organic Pressed Powder, and never looked back. So I was psyched when they sent over a few other products for me to try. My favorite has been the PHYTO-PIGMENTS Illuminating Primer (a fav of Gwyneth Paltrow’s as well, just by the way :). Primer is like magic for your face, and this one adds the very subtlest of sheen with its light-reflecting pigments. It smoothes and evens out your face and gives it a little glow and softness – love. I also really liked the Green Apple serum and moisturizer – the only thing I would warn is that the scent was a little strong for me, but that’s just personal preference. Overall I’m a huge fan of Juice Beauty and can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking for a skincare/makeup brand with products that are free of weird chemicals and junky ingredients.

One super exciting thing – someone bought one of my prints in 16×20! Guys…16×20 is BIG…and I don’t mean to sound braggy and I feel weird even talking about it but it was really exciting to see one of my photographs printed like that! It made me really happy :).

Grana generously sent over their Silk V-Neck camisole and it’s so pretty – slinky and silk with a perfect little slouch and a lovely drape.

I’ve also been living in their Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater – so soft and I love the texture of the Light Grey Donegal.

I worked on some photos of the Eileen Fisher linen bedding for Garnet Hill, and (I know I’ve told you this before, but…) obsessed with these. So comfortable and I love the look of linen bedding – it’s just relaxed, effortless, casual, but also pretty.

Since I’m heading off to Puerto Rico tomorrow and Paris in May, I figured it was high time to upgrade my iPhone (purely for picture-taking purposes) – I got the 7 plus and I love my new rose gold Casemate case.

I’ll be off from posting for the rest of the week while I’m away, but be sure to follow along on Instagram as I’ll definitely be posting a lot on there. See you back here next week!

Sounds like lots of fun stuff, and that print is too cute. You have to show us your new bookshelf setup and what you ended up doing with the space!
