Photo Essays: Central Park in Bloom

We’ve had a long, cold winter (including most of April), here in New York City, but this past weekend it finally felt like spring arrived for real. My parents were in the city visiting, and on Sunday morning my dad and I headed to Central Park at sunrise. I wanted to take pictures while the light was nice and before it got crowded, and he is just generally an early riser so it was no issue for him – and it was fun for me to have someone along while I snapped photos. Despite working in the city and having lived here with my Mom when they were first married, my Dad hadn’t been to the Park in ages, so I was super happy to show him some of my favorite sights, like Bow Bridge and Bethesda Fountain…as well as just how peaceful and lovely the Park is in the early hours of the morning.

Loved seeing this happy puppy jumping around.

As you said Jackie, I have not been to CP in years. I had a great time there with you and it was the perfect time to go. But your pictures remind me that what you captured with the lens is a far cry from what I actually “saw”. Which just means I need to stop and smell the roses more!
