One of my favorite bookstores on the Upper West Side is Book Culture on Columbus, introduced to me by my friend Elana. The shop is bright, cozy, and kid-friendly, reminding me a bit of The Shop Around the Corner from You’ve Got Mail. They have a great selection of books, cards, and gifts, as well as a whole lower level devoted to children’s books and filled with fun seating areas for kids to sit and peruse their selections. It’s a friendly and lively spot with a neighborhood-y kind of vibe, and in that way, to me, it encapsulates a lot of what the Upper West Side is all about.

Jackie! it looks so quaint and cozy. Definitely like the one from You’ve got mail. Putting it on my list for my next NYC trip. xo from Puerto Rico
I hope you get a chance to visit! xo
Your pictures blow me away once again! These are so beautiful and I’m so glad I introduced you to a new place (you always are my go-to person for recommendations!). xoxo!
You’re so sweet Elana. Thanks again for showing me this place!
Obsessed with what those candles are! I’ll have to go in and find out. Quintessential UWS! So cute!
I want to live here, its beautiful and so are the photos
I took your advice and went into Book Culture and spent an hour just wandering around the shop. It was a precious hour since it was my last day visiting my favorite city. So much to see, so little time! On the plane ride home back to California I decided to watch I’ve Got Mail AGAIN. But this time I saw it in a whole new light having just spent 6 days on the Upper West Side. Love your Blog and Instagram account. It allows me to pretend I am in NYC from California.
Oh, thank you Kelli! What a sweet comment. I hope you loved the bookstore and UWS! Enjoy sunny California 🙂
I love Book Culture! I work right next door to this location, and it is my go-to when I need gift ideas or birthday cards. I love your photos, they really capture the feel of the place.
