Recently I had the pleasure of visiting Cynthia Rowley’s CuRious candy shop on the second floor of her Upper East side clothing boutique. Charming, stylish places like this are part of why I love living in New York City! CuRious is a candy store full of sweets and fun party favors, but with an enchanted, kind of gothic vibe (along the lines of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale). It almost felt like the dark version of Alice’s Tea Cup. This location is on East 78th street, just off Madison Avenue, and she also has another location down in the West Village on Bleeker. Cynthia did an amazing job designing this candy shop, and it’s not surprising when you consider what a talented clothing designer she is (I was drooling over a lot of the items in the boutique on the first floor). Take a peek inside this dark little wonderland:

I never knew this place existed! I'm not really even a candle person, but I could totally see myself spending hours (and lots of $$) here!
How neat! Did you buy any goodies?
What a great idea to create this above her store! The gothic vibe looks amazing – I love the trees and branches everywhere. The designer is quite creative and talented!

I love that one too!
Exactly-it feels like an enchanted forest in that little courtyard.
I did! I bought a little bag of candy and promptly ate it all…guess I'll have to go back now 🙂
You should come for a vacation! So nice in the fall.
Yup, that's how I felt!
I know, it's sort of hidden away. I could spend a lot of money there too..and a lot in the clothing boutique downstairs 🙂
Totally, I love the branches as well.
