A Design Dilemma

I have a big blank wall above my desk, and for the longest time I’ve been pondering what to do with it. I have three ideas. The first is a gigantic inspiration board-I’ve always wanted one and I love the look of them:

The second option is a gallery wall. I have several new items that I’m dying to hang, including a few new prints and a sequin “J” coming my way!

This gorgeous picture I found on Pinterest is the third option:

This I would achieve using my Inslee Haynes 2012 calendar, which is basically just like what you see above: 12 separate (gorgeous) 8×10 fashion sketches, one for each month (with the calendar part below the sketch). My original plan was to use one frame and switch it out each month-but when I saw this, my jaw dropped. It looks AMAZING! And it would be a perfect way to display my calendar. However, I am kind of liking the way my original plan for the calendar looks:

What’s your vote? Has anyone ever hung a grid like the third option? I’m afraid it might be tough to get all of the frames lined up perfectly! I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts and suggestions!!

  2. Oh it is a toss up for me! I love the insporation board because you can change it depending on your mood. But the calendar idea is so original and chic! (I'm absolutely no help- sorry. But you can't go wrong with either idea)

  3. Both are so good, I think you should try to find a spot for both of them! I think an inspiration board is more practical for above a desk, but is there another spot that you can use the beautiful fashion prints!

ps. On Dec. 17 I did a post about the same pinterest photo using a calendar! How funny. Feel free to check out my take on the same thing at

  4. You can never go wrong with an inspiration board. What about hanging the framed calendar on it…? it might look cool to have a framed piece on the board. That calender is so beautiful… i love the idea of framing it.

  11. I love the third one. They have kits that you can buy to hang frames perfectly. Or just use paper the size of the frame so you know where to poke holes etc.

  12. Just came across your blog, very cute!
I've never created a grid pattern on the wall but have seen tips as to either tape it out first or paper cut-outs first. Goodluck!
I love inspiration boards also but always afraid of them look messy.

  15. I actually had a sort of grid wall once with a bunch of vintage accessory prints. It was very cute 🙂 And then I moved in with a BOY and had to share the wall. Hmpf. Anyway, I also really love the inspiration wall idea. There isn't much better than having things to inspire you every single day.
