Three Lives and Company epitomizes what I love about living in New York City. First of all, it’s one of the (relatively) many independent bookstores in this city – unlike the suburbs where I grew up, where there were two bookstores within a 50-mile radius of my house that by this point have gone out of business. Second of all, Three Lives and Company reminds me of Shop Around the Corner in You’ve Got Mail. It’s miniscule, the floorboards are totally creaky, the staff is incredibly nice, and it’s just a rickety, cozy, charming old bookstore on a quaint, quiet corner of Greenwich Village. I couldn’t love it more, and if it ever shuts down I might cry.

I love little holes of Manhattan that make you think you're in a tiny little suburb all tucked away.
