I came across this letterpress map of New York City while shopping with my friend Elana at Book Culture on the Upper West Side, and though I knew I had nowhere to actually put it, I simply had to have it. I’m always on the lookout for creative NYC maps, and this one is so pretty in person, with the shiny copper foil and touches of softest blush pink.
Anyway, this is how I became aware of 42 Pressed, a letterpress studio based out of Charleston. They have a line called Roam which consists of these simple and charming city maps – they’ve got Chicago, Charleston, NYC, and San Fransisco, in addition to other paper goods and stationery. I love the simple aesthetic of these maps, which is anything but boring…a perfect combination of minimalist + whimsical. 42 Pressed also does graphic design, art direction, web design, and custom wedding work – check out their site for more info.
I’m currently in the process of framing my map and can’t wait to show it to you once it’s finished and hung!
PS – the London and Paris prints were on the site and now are not…I would contact them to see what the deal is, if you’re interested in purchasing those!
PPS – I know my comments section is a little on the fritz…you can still leave your website address but the field for it is just pushed lower than it should be. I’m working on getting it fixed!
No wonder you had to have it….awesome and unusual.
