Home Tour: A Classic Chelsea Townhouse

Did you all see this amazing home tour on Domaine? Built in 1885, this Chelsea townhouse currently houses interior designer Betsy Morgan along with her husband and two kids. Betsy pulled off just the right mix of eclectic and modern in her decorating while still maintaining (and even restoring) many of the traditional touches that help retain the historic character of this remarkable townhouse. The space is positively flooded with light, rich with architectural details, and the fact that it’s located in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood (home to Chelsea Market, Tipsy Parson, the High Line, and more), well….that’s just icing on the cake. Betsy’s style, which is exemplified to perfection throughout her home, is a juxtaposition between modern and antique – a mixture that I really connect with, and worked to achieve in my own tiny space. Get ready to be amazed:

That bed! That vanity! That glamorous mirrored nightstand! Cute puppy too. Though I wouldn’t necessarily pick those lamps for myself, they add a perfect modern pop to this room.
I love this little piece so much. It reminds me of the desks I was talking about in this post
What a gorgeous, feminine bed! That bedspread is amazing and unique. It actually looks exactly like the dust ruffle I have on my bed, which explains why I love it so much. The headboard is beautiful and striking as well, and I love a good swing-arm lamp next to a bed. The walls just happen to also be the perfect soft shade of gray.
Who wouldn’t love to have a shoe closet like this? And another great swing-arm lamp.
This is just perfect. Pretty much exemplifies the whole modern-meets-antique scheme of the entire home. The chair, the mantel, the art…it just couldn’t get any better, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. See the full home tour here!
