A Bedroom Inspired By An English Rose Garden

Holiday House 2018 is on! For those who aren’t familiar, the Holiday House is a designer showhouse that takes place every year in New York City. A different decorator designs each space in the house, and then it’s open to the public to tour with proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Fund. I’ve been visiting Holiday House for about five years now because my Mom has been big into showhouses ever since I was a kid!

One of my favorite rooms this year was designed by Ariel Okin. Ariel is a designer I only recently discovered and I’ve quickly become a huge fan. She was inspired by the idea of an English rose garden for her Holiday House bedroom, and as you can see the custom, hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper embodies that inspiration to stunning effect.

Ariel mixed high and low expertly which is part of why I absolutely love this space. The chic canopy bed is actually from cb2, as are the beautiful fluted wall sconces.

I was delighted to see the work of one of my favorite artists, Josh Young, in Ariel’s room! His work goes perfectly with the traditional-meets-modern aesthetic of the space, and the “Paloma” portrait on the right is actually one of my very favorite pieces of his.

Pretty details.

The bedding is from Hill House Home.

This chair is also from cb2, can you believe it?

Ariel also designed the en suite bathroom – how pretty are the colors in that wallpaper? I also love the brass hardware.

I’m so in love with Ariel’s room and if you’re in NYC I hope you’ll go see it in person! Holiday House is open until December 2nd at East 76th Street.
