My favorite part of the summer has arrived – the opening of the Hampton Designer Showhouse! This year there are actually two showhouses, located side-by-side on Rosko Lane in Southampton. This year was also a little different because I was invited to attend the press day with my mom (we usually just go on our own), which was a super fun experience. We had a private tour of the houses and were able to chat with a few of the designers. It’s always great to hear the thought process that goes into the design, so that was a bonus!
Today I’m excited to show you one of the first rooms that caught my eye at the 2017 Hampton Designer Showhouse – the basement lounge, designed by Kathryn Hunt of East End Home Co. First off – those walls by Arlene McLoughlin…so, gorgeous! It reminded me of Cole and Sons Hummingbirds which has always been a favorite. In addition, the incredible painting by Christina Baker looks so lovely layered on top. The whole room was sophisticated and feminine without being overly girly…exactly what I have in mind for my own bedroom.
I mean, how amazing is this painting? I absolutely, 100%, love it. Coincidentally, I had discovered Christina on Instagram just a few days before this, and when I saw this painting I knew the style looked familiar..then when I got on Insta later I realized it was because I’d been looking at her work on there and then suddenly saw it in person! Where it was, of course, even more beautiful than online. That, mixed with the wall treatment, just did me in. It could not get more perfect than that as far as I’m concerned.
The large art piece above the pink chair is by artist Sally Egbert, and the side tables are Bungalow 5. I like how the large art and the pink add further touches of femininity, while the solid rug, couch, and lamps keep things grounded. I really like the side tables too – they look like a gray raffia perhaps, and they just add another layer of interest (versus just a wood or white side table).
The 2017 Hampton Designer Showhouse runs through September 4th, with proceeds benefitting Southampton Hospital. For tickets and more info you can visit the website here…and stay tuned for more of my favorites to come!
ahhhhh I really want to go to this!!!
You would love it I think! Especially for inspiration as you’re decorating your apartment (which is looking awesome!)
Love that piece by Sally! So striking!
Isn’t it? I love large-scale art! Especially in tones of pink 🙂
