When it comes to design, I’m a fan of special little details. One such detail that I’ve come to notice and enjoy is colored book pages, such as on Kelly Wearstler’s Rhapsody. It’s just so pretty and unexpected, and since I’m such a huge fan of colorful books, this beautiful touch is so delightful to me. It’s not something that you see too often either, which is why it really jumped out at me. Here’s another example that I love, on Kate Spade’s Things We Love:
Gold pages. How pretty is that! See how it outshines all the other books and makes them look boring 🙂 By the way, these happen to be two of the prettiest coffee table books that I own, colored pages aside.
Kelly Wearstler’s Rhapsody exemplifies another thing that I love – when books come in slipcovers. Kelly’s limited edition Hue comes in a slipcover as well, and it’s just such a special detail.
That perforated slipcover is just too good, and the book itself is a piece of art as well:
I remember buying HUE when it just came out, which sold out quickly at the time. Coffee table books are like having a real-life Instagram in your living room. Your Friend, Jess
I LOVE a pretty coffee table book! I actually have a list of books that I am slowly purchasing. And thanks to your recommendation, Rhapsody has been added to the queue! – M
Gah! Why is it that Kate Spade can do no wrong? and that sleeve on the Wearstler book is seriously making me sad my packaging design class was canceled this semester 🙁 Nicely curated collection deary! Happy V day! xo
