The Elements of Style NYC Book Signing

I’ve been super excited for Erin Gates’ book to come out ever since she first announced she was writing it (remember when I posted about it here?). So when I found out that she was going on a book tour, and that her first stop (after Boston) would be the gorgeous Canvas Home in NYC, I figured it would be a crime not to hightail it down there and snag myself a signed copy! So that’s exactly what I did last night, and it was such a lovely event. See all of my pics after the jump!

Erin was so friendly and sweet, taking the time to really chat with everyone – and of course she was wearing the cutest, most perfect outfit EVER (a gold sparkly knee length skirt with a cozy black sweater, statement necklace, and killer Rockstuds). I really couldn’t get over how pretty she is in person, even though I already knew she was from her blog! Behind Erin and me you can see some of my favorite items that Canvas Home carries, the Dauville collection. I have the medium bowl, which lives happily on my coffee table and is honestly one of my favorite things in my whole apartment. They’re surprisingly affordable as well, which is always nice.

I took a stalker-y pic so you can see the outfit. SO GOOD!

The Canvas Home store really was the perfect backdrop for this event. I actually forgot how much I love it there and I’ll definitely be making a point to visit more often. The style of the store is kind of industrial meets rustic meets modern…it’s a really wonderful aesthetic and a fantastic mix.

Ok so these canisters were actually next door at West Elm, but I had to throw them in because they’re so cute!

I haven’t had a chance to dive into the book yet since the event was just last night, but upon first flip-through I can already tell I’m going to love every page. Erin’s writing is so unique and real, and the book is full of her amazing design work (much of which hasn’t been published before!), so I can’t wait to sit down and devour it fully!

I was on the fence about getting it, but you were that last little push I needed. It was such a good book. I also saw you are reading A Discovery of Witches, I loved this trilogy! The author does a fantastic job of adding small details in the first books that seem insignificant until the end and everything is so well researched. I hope you love it too.
