Black and White Stripes

Black and white stripes in fashion and interior design tend to wax and wane in popularity, but to me this look remains a timeless classic. I think these can function as a neutral in the home, and look fantastic mixed with other colors and patterns such as leopard, dots, and especially florals!

Some inspiration in my own apartment: a cool candle holder my sister picked up for me while travelling in Denmark:

My beloved black and white runner from Dwell Studio. Ikea has it’s own popular version as well!

Black and white walls can be achieved with paint or wallpaper:

Striped seating is a bold and stylish statement:
An armchair is a great option if  a couch seems like too bold a statement. A few options: Meijer – Ballard Designs – Modshop by Room Service
Curtains create a wall of graphic pattern. Try Overstock  – Rosenberry Rooms – PB Teen – or DIY your own if you’re feeling really motivated!

For just a touch of this trend, use a small accessory like a storage basket:

If you want to use an accessory instead of a larger piece, I’m also obsessed with the Erin Gates for Jill Rosenwald collection entitled Bateau. This tray is my favorite piece:

Also love this gold rimmed mug:

How do you guys feel about black and white stripes? Would you use them as a large piece in your home, or stick with smaller accessories? I’d love to hear your opinion!

I LOVE this graphic look in the home – black + white stripes are chic and simple but loud too. A great combo that makes a fantastic statement.
