I’ve been a big fan of interior designer Young Huh ever since seeing her gorgeous space in the 2014 Kips Bay Showhouse, so I when I saw on Instagram that she was doing a room in collaboration with domino magazine at this year’s Holiday House, I was super psyched! Furthermore, when I saw that she was doing blush pink walls, well, you can imagine how my excitement increased. Young designed the first ever kitchen space in Holiday House by creating this airy, European-inspired space that gets graphic punch from the eye-catching black and white shelving.
As you may know, the annual NYC Holiday House Showhouse brings together 20 or so different designers to decorate rooms in the Academy Mansion on the Upper East Side of NYC, with proceeds going to breast cancer research. This space that Young Huh designed has gone through many incarnations through the ten years that Holiday House has been around, but this is the first time it’s been a kitchen and the first time there’s been a kitchen created in the Academy Mansion (the actual kitchen of the house isn’t decorated for Holiday House). Young used modern Bosch appliances and Cambria quartz surfaces which contrast beautifully with the classical architecture of the room.
Young used Benjamin Moore’s Melted Ice Cream (best paint name ever) for the walls, with Chantilly Lace on the trim and Atrium White on the ceiling. Obviously, I adore this entire situation. It’s the perfect whisper of blush pink…in fact, it’s exactly what I wanted for my bedroom (I used Farrow and Ball’s Middleton Pink and it’s a little too pink), so I’m probably going to redo the walls in this color at some point in the future. I’m also in love with the fact that she added in those emerald green club chairs…blush pink with a touch of emerald is perfection in my book. The little pink throw pillows were the softest, smoothest pink velvet. And how gorgeous are those clear pedestals?

Did you notice the gorgeous mosaic tiles that Young applied to the walls? This is one of the designs from her brand-new line with Akdo, called The Essence Collection, debuting here at Holiday House for the first time.
