Yup, it’s Carrie’s iconic stoop from Sex and the City, located on Perry Street in the West Village (they filmed the stoop scenes here, even though on the show she lived on the Upper East Side). My sister and I visited this historic landmark on a Sex and the City walking tour we took over the weekend. It was fun-we got to wander around the West Village and visit sites from the show such as the park where Steve and Miranda got married, Pastis, where Carrie and Alexandr ate brunch, the Diane von Furstenberg store, where Carrie is shopping (in the movie) when she tells Samantha she’s engaged to Big, and more. But unsurprisingly, my favorite stop of the day was this one:
If you’re visiting NYC or if you’re a local and want to get to know various parts of the city better, a walking tour really is a great idea. It’s a perfect opportunity to get outside, enjoy the beautiful autumn weather, and explore an unfamiliar area (while burning off all the cupcakes you just ate). When you live in NYC (or any city, I assume) you sometimes get stuck in a rut of staying in your own neighborhood and just going to all of your regular places, so this is a wonderful way to branch out. I’m excited to take a historic walking tour next and learn some of the history behind New York’s different areas and architecture (and maybe do a food tour, too!). Check out this site for what looks like a lot of great options.

How fun! I've never done a walking trip come to think about it – well… I take it back while studying abroad I took a walking trip with my class if that counts =)

My old neighborhood! I miss it oh so much. I literally lived three blocks away from Magnolia 🙂 So dangerous.

Nothing better than playing a tourist in your own city. Love it! I've visited that stoop often… #creep
Yes it was fun to be a tourist for a day! And I neglected to mention we also stopped by SJP's real stoop.. #supercreep
That definitely counts-and it sound like fun!
The bus tour is what my sister originally wanted to do, but I pushed for the walking tour…kinda regret it though because I think the bus tour is more "official" and you go to locations all over the city. The walking tour only took us to places downtown. Still fun though!
What a great idea!
Oh looks so yummy and tasty!
That looks sooo yummy!

mmm cupcakes. note to self: go to new york and eat cupcakes with you.
This makes me want more cupcakes…oh and to live in the West Village. Sigh. If only it were possible. Great pics!
Oooh I took the Sex and the City tour when I was in NY last time (but it wasn't a walking tour… we were on a bus). It was pretty much the best thing ever!! And the cupcakes at Magnolia were sooo good.
