My favorite part of summer is here – the Hampton Designer Showhouse! In case you’re like, what’s that? – a showhouse is where about twenty or so different designers each decorate a room in a house – the proceeds go to charity and the house is open to the public for a period of time. This year the Hampton Decorator Showhouse (presented by Traditional Home) will take place in two houses in Southampton, and it runs Sunday, July 23 – Monday, September 4, with proceeds benefitting Southampton Hospital. In anticipation, let’s revisit a few of my favorites from last year’s house, in Sag Harbor – beginning with Melanie Turner’s boho-chic lounge room above – I loved her use of texture to bring the monochromatic color scheme to life (see the full post on this room here).
Kate Singer is always a favorite, and she didn’t disappoint with this breath-of-fresh-air sitting room. Neutral, soothing, and anything but boring, her room featured loads of lovely linen and cool, crisp shades of blue – very inviting.

Erin Gates’ lovely outdoor dining area was perfect for al fresco dining and summer evenings spent sipping rosé (in my dreams, where I own a Hamptons house).
Ahh, just gets me in the summer mood! I can’t wait to see what the designers dream up this year. One of the fun things about the Hampton Showhouse too is that you get to see incredible high-end, top-of-the-line finishes that are being used in top-quality construction currently…and then on top of that you get to enjoy the amazingly creative decorating that the designers produce for each space.
