NYC Guide: Oddfellows Ice Cream Co.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting Oddfellows’ East Village scoop shop, and it was such a cute place. Oddfellows Ice Cream started out in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where their flagship shop is still based, and where they serve up cones filled with a variety of creative flavors like Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Black Pepper Strawberry, S’mores, and tons more. The East Village shop is charmingly petite and features a selection of eight rotating ice cream and sorbet flavors, served in homemade cones that are made right behind the counter while you watch! I’d had Oddfellows ice cream before (at The Sweet Shop), and loved it, so it was super fun to visit the East Village outpost and sample a few more of their delicious flavors.

There’s the waffle-iron-looking gadget where they make fresh cones to order. That cone was damn GOOD, let me tell you.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – sounds weird, but had a subtle and delicious flavor.

Of course I had to get Sprinkles flavor, which is a sweet cream ice cream with the best topping ever mixed in.

Oddfellows makes all of their ice cream right in their Brooklyn kitchen, using an ice cream base that they pasteurize themselves and locally-sourced, hormone and additive-free dairy. Between this and Van Leeuwen, I’m really ruined on store bought ice cream forever. Only small-batch, high-quality ice cream made in Brooklyn can satisfy me now!
