Michelle Adams’ Triumphant Return

Last night I was perusing my favorite blogs when I came across this post on Good Bones, Great Pieces announcing some surprising (to me) news: Domino is back! I’d had no idea, but at that very moment, Domino’s new and improved e-commerce site was up and running, and a new issue was sitting on newsstands. So naturally, I did the only logical thing that one could do upon hearing such news: I hauled my butt to the nearest 24 hour drugstore to pick up my copy! But even more exciting than a new issue of Domino was the fact of who the new editor-in-chief happens to be:

None other than the one, the only: Michelle Adams! After hearing the somewhat confusing news that she was leaving Lonny, I had been curiously awaiting word on what her next move would be. I didn’t hear a single thing until suddenly, she re-emerges as Domino’s new leader. This will be a very good thing.

Some of Domino’s great features include Eva Chen’s office, designed by the Good Bones, Great Pieces mother-daughter duo Suzanne and Lauren McGrath:

Nate! With Jeremiah! They designed the New York City loft of Rita Hazan:

Ali Cayne’s Manhattan apartment, photographed by Brittany Ambridge (love the inspiration board!):

Billy Cotton’s Vermont home (made me smile, because Billy Cotton’s flatware was one of the first things I ever posted about):

Lauren McGrath’s petite Upper East Side space:

All of the features are available to read online as well. The issue also includes India Hicks, Coco Chanel’s Parisian apartment, Sofia Coppola, a gift guide, and more.

Domino is taking a new approach with their re-launch: they’re not just a magazine, but rather an e-commerce site, where you can buy items featured in the issue directly through the Domino site. So instead of just linking to the products in the stories, they enable readers to buy them right from Domino. They’re like a shopping site now-but one that is chock-full of inspirational pictures, and decor items curated under the leadership of Michelle Adams! (sheesh, I’m such a fangirl). It’s an interesting and different approach, and one that I hope will enable Domino to flourish this time around. Here are a few of my favorite items available to purchase through the site:

Ive been waiting for this day !!!! Do you know if it will be as expensive as the special editions they've released a few times? $10 is too much for a monthly magazine!! What am I saying? I'll buy it anyway!!

  11. Yeah unfortunately it actually cost 12 dollars! I'm not sure if it's going to be monthly (at least at this time), because the issue is called Holiday 2013. So it might be a while before we see another one. You made me giggle though-of course I bought it anyway also! Unfortunately I also picked up an issue of Lucky without realizing that that cost 12 dollars too! When did magazines get so pricey?
