I LOVE inspiration boards in a home office! They’re cheerful, colorful, eclectic-and best of all, no two will ever be exactly the same. They provide a fun canvas for displaying a glimpse into who you are and what you love. Plus you can change it out as your tastes and experiences change, which is always great-decor should never be stagnant. And decor should always be personal-hence, the beauty of the inspiration board!
Here are a few great options if you’re looking to create an inspiration board of your own. I think it’s best when the board itself is neutral-a serene backdrop for the varied items that you will pin to it.
And what to add to it? Anything you love! Inspiration pictures ripped from magazines, catalogs, or printed from online are of course the crux of an inspiration board. Then be sure to add fun personal touches, like photobooth pictures, ticket stubs, cute postcards, ribbons…the possibilities are endless!
Also, it’s fun to use cute and/or neutral push pins. Try Poppin for plain clear or white. If you really want to fancy it up, follow this easy-looking tutorial from Leah Bergman of Freutcake on how to make glitter push pins.
Just make it colorful, fun, and meaningful to you-and you’ll have a collage that makes you smile every time you look at it!
Inspiration boards always look great but it seems like such a hassle for me. I don't read many magazines to cut out things and I'm not wasting a bunch of paper to print stuff, especially when I can use Pinterest (in love with Pinterest!) It might work for designers more, I guess, but I still think they're fun to look at!!
I agree Pinterest is best for online stuff. I want an inspiration board because I have so many cute things to put on it, like little cards and postcards, etc. It seems like every restaurant and shop I go to here in NYC has a cute little card to give out!
I don't have a spot for one either! So frustrating. It's the number one design thing I would love to do if I had a bigger space (or just another wall).

I've been looking for an inspiration board–I have so many things to pin up, but nothing to pin them TO! That Pottery Barn option is nice and simple!
Yes, I love that one! I have so many things to pin too but no spot for an inspiration board :(. Someday!
I love a good inspiration board! It can be such a fun project to change them out seasonally.

Thank you so much Elizabeth! Yeah, I'm sure if I made one it wouldn't look quite as good as Jenna Lyons' board, haha, 🙂
Thanks Holly! I agree, I like the simple boards best.
I love mood-board/inspiration boards! They are so fun to create, and such a great way to be inspired. Now I'm inspired to make some new ones!!
