An Afternoon At Tipsy Parson

Beautiful signage at Tipsy Parson in New York City
Tipsy Parson might be my favorite restaurant in all of New York City/the world. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Chelsea, this cozy spot has amazing decor and delicious Southern food that I can’t get enough of. The best part is that if you go in for lunch, it’s actually, blissfully, (usually) quiet and uncrowded. You can typically sit in the cozy window seat and truly relax – it’s an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the busy city, and that’s probably what I love most about it. That and the Cheerwine. And the fries.

This wallpaper is my everything. Obsessed hardly begins to cover it.

The back room is cozy, featuring bentwood Thonet chairs, tufted brown leather banquettes, and an eclectic mix of John Derian-looking glass plates on two walls.

Another amazing wallpaper that I cannot get enough of. If I had a house I would happily use this wallpaper in it.

The BLT with French fries is absolutely delicious for lunch (and PS-the fries are only served on their lunch menu, which is a good reason to go here mid-day!). My favorite thing to do for dinner is to order a few side dishes as my meal – I love the Brussels sprouts and the mac and cheese.
Always room for dessert: this is the Tipsy Parson, consisting of an almond cake soaked in brandy with vanilla custard, cranberries, sliced almonds, plums, apricots, and raisins. YUM!

If you’re planning a visit to New York City and looking for recommendations on what to do in this area, I suggest taking a walk along the High Line, then popping into Chelsea Market, lunch at Tipsy, and a sweet treat at Billy’s Bakery (that is, if you didn’t stuff yourself full of donuts at Chelsea Market :). These things are all within a perfect walking distance from each other, so it could make for a fun day!
