A Few Good Links

These pictures from Kat’s blog are so pretty…and I love her dress!

If you’re obsessed with cold brew coffee like I am, try Chameleon’s black coffee brew. It’s really good and it’s organic – woo!

Speaking of dresses, I’ve been scouring the Internet these last few months looking for cute, casual-but-could-be-dressed-up dresses…and I finally found one I love! It’s on final sale so it was a bit of a gamble, but it definitely paid off. I’m obsessed with the shape, the drop waist, and the mixed prints…it’s perfect. PS – why is it so hard to find casual dresses, like ones you could just wear to brunch? I kept finding so many that were just so fancy. I also got this one…not sure if I’m keeping it. My Mom said it looked like a housecoat…I will admit it’s basically a mumu but I kind of like it!

Liked this article from The Cut – Stop Telling Single Single Women How to Find a Man. My favorite quote: “I read a story by Maris Kreizman in which she explains that getting together with her fiancé Josh was not a result of “putting herself out there” but luck. “Reader, I got lucky. That’s it. For once in my life I got phenomenally lucky. I’m still the same old me with the same insecurities and biases and hangups but now I’ve found someone I love very much who loves me back.” That was so poignant to me, because you hear so much (often conflicting) advice when you’re single. “Put yourself out there more!” “Don’t try too hard, just let it happen!” “Be easygoing!” “Be aggressive!” “Guys don’t want you to approach them!” “Guys need you to approach them, they’re too scared!” It’s enough to drive you crazy…and the fact is this: you can take all the advice in the world, but it comes down to luck! Meeting a person you love is pure luck, like winning the Lotto. And I’m kind of glad someone finally said it!

More Charleston! Clearly I can’t get enough, so I liked this fun post on One Kings Lane about the charming city.

Remember the dress I ordered last week from Maje? It arrived and it’s kind of amazing! Just a really cute style with amazing details. This is my first time getting anything from the brand and it probably should be my last, since #pricy, but the quality seems great so maybe worth it?

This week I went to a book signing at Anthropologie in Chelsea Market for Will from Bright Bazaar’s new book, Dream Decor. The book is even prettier than I imagined and I can’t wait to dive into all of the beautiful homes that are featured…also, Will is the sweetest, cutest person ever. So happy for him and all of his success!

Bloggers, take note…Jacquelyn from Lark and Linen shared some great tips for growing your blog. Articles on this topic abound but she had some great, creative ideas that I haven’t heard before.

I’ve always kind of wanted to go to Maine (it looks really pretty and I love lobster), so I enjoyed Christine’s post on her trip. And The Press Hotel looks amazing – it’s located in an old newspaper office and printing press and there are little literary details scattered throughout – swoon!

Again I want to say thank you so much to everyone who participated in the survey I posted earlier this week. Thank you for taking the time to do it and for all of the kind and helpful feedback. It’s given me a lot to think about! If you’d like to take part, the survey is still live.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I’m going to a baseball game on Sunday with my Dad and seeing some friends on Saturday. Hoping the rain holds off for the game!

  2. Hi jackie! I really enjoy all of your NYC posts- especially since I just moved to the city. How did you find out about the Anthropology book signing? Always looking for ways to stay up to date on things going on 🙂

Thanks Liora! I follow Will on Instagram and Snapchat and he posted about it. Following NYC ‘grammers and NYC based stores/brands is a good way to stay up-to-date on happenings! Also Time Out NY’s website has an upcoming events tab.

Ahhh! These articles are great. Just a relief to read something that isn’t advice for how to find someone. The more I think about it the more I think it’s all just luck.
